Fairfield Primary School Cool Roof Case Study
Under the Rudd/Gillard BER building program Fairfield Primary were allocated funds to build a multipurpose building for school use and for the use of the local community.
While the building was aesthetically appealing little thought had gone into critical elements such as insulation. As a result, on hot days the building was unusable by the school or other user groups. This was disappointing for school students and also removed a valuable revenue stream for the school.
Cocoon were engaged by environmental engineers to install a heat reflective membrane to the exterior of the building. As a result, the internal temperatures on hot days were significantly reduced and the building was able to be used 365 days a year.
